How to buy a painting from Tirana

1. Choose a painting and message me

I'm Nejada, a painter in Tirana, Albania, and I sell my original paintings directly. There's no checkout on this site. When you find a painting you like, message me on Instagram at @adajen and tell me which one.

I answer myself. If you want more photos, or a short video of the painting in daylight, just ask. Still deciding? Send me your wall size and your budget and I'll show you what fits.

2. Shipping, quoted before you pay

The buyer pays shipping. What it costs depends on the size and weight of the painting and on where it's going, so I quote it for your address before you pay anything.

I ship to EU countries. Every painting goes out tracked, and I send it once your payment has arrived.

3. Import VAT and customs in the EU

Albania is outside the EU, so a painting I send goes through customs when it arrives. Original paintings pay no customs duty when shipped to the EU. You do pay import VAT on delivery, at the reduced rate your country sets for original art, and the courier may add a handling fee for the customs paperwork.

I'll tell you about both before you pay, so nothing turns up at your door as a surprise. These are the rates for four EU countries:

Import VAT on original paintings shipped from Albania to the EU (checked 2026-10-13)
CountryImport VAT on original art
France5.5%
Germany7%
Italy5%
Netherlands9%

Rates checked 2026-10-13. Customs duty is 0% in all four. If your country isn't listed, or you're reading this months later, I'll check the current rate before I quote you.

4. Paying: SEPA transfer, Payoneer or cash in Tirana

From the EU, the easiest way is a bank transfer in euros. Albania is part of SEPA, the European area for euro bank transfers, and euro payments to Albanian banks have gone through it since 7 October 2025. You pay from your own bank like any other euro transfer, and I send you my IBAN once we've agreed the total.

Payoneer works too, if you'd rather use it. In Tirana, you can pay cash when we meet.

Seeing a painting in person in Tirana

If you live in Tirana or you're visiting, you can see a painting before you buy it. Message me with the one you like and we'll agree on a time and a place to meet. Look at it up close, in proper light. If it's the one, you pay cash and take it home with you.

Questions buyers ask

Are these original paintings or prints?

They're originals. Every painting on adajen.com is a one-off that I, Nejada, painted by hand in Tirana, Albania. There are no prints on this site and no second copies. When a painting sells it's gone for good, and its page stays up marked as sold.

How much does shipping cost?

It depends on the size and weight of the painting and on where it's going, so I quote it for your address before you pay anything. The buyer pays shipping. I send every painting tracked, once the payment has arrived. Message me your country and I'll check the exact cost.

Will I pay customs duty or import VAT in the EU?

Original paintings pay no customs duty when shipped from Albania to the EU, but the buyer pays import VAT on delivery. The rate is reduced for original art: 5.5% in France, 7% in Germany, 5% in Italy and 9% in the Netherlands (checked 2026-10-13). The courier may add a handling fee.

How do I pay from another EU country?

By bank transfer in euros. Albania is part of SEPA, and euro payments to Albanian banks have gone through it since 7 October 2025, so it's a normal euro transfer from your own bank. I send you my IBAN once we've agreed the total. Payoneer works too, if that's easier for you.

Can I see a painting in person in Tirana?

Yes. If you live in Tirana or you're visiting, message me with the painting you like and we'll agree on a time and a place to meet. You can look at it up close before you decide. If you buy it, you pay in cash and take it home the same day.

Can you help me choose a painting for my wall?

Yes. Send me the width of your wall and your budget, and tell me what sits near it, like a sofa or a bed. I'll tell you which of the available paintings would work and send photos so you can judge the size. A quick phone photo of the wall helps a lot.

How do I know you're a real artist and this is safe?

You're dealing with me, Nejada, the person who painted it. Before you pay, ask for more photos or a short video of the painting in daylight and I'll send them. I explain shipping and VAT before any payment, and every painting goes out tracked. In Tirana, you can see it first.
